How to Remove Lipstick From Carpet

Red lipstick

Many women have been in the position of dropping their lipstick on the carpet and making a stain. Sometimes, children decide to play makeover and create a big mess. Luckily, we have some great stain removing ideas that will help make that stain disappear.

Liquid Dish Soap or Stain Remover

Using a damp cloth, blot the stain to remove any clumps that may be leftover. You can then apply a stain removing spray. It is recommended to use one with a grease fighter because lipstick contains grease. Blot the area until the stain is removed. Using liquid dish soap with a grease fighter is also an option that works well. Remove all of the lipstick from the area and then allow it to air dry.

Vinegar Solution

If the above options do not work completely, use one part white vinegar to two parts water. Shake the solution in a spray bottle and spray the affected area of the carpet. Allow it to soak in for a minute and then blot the area again with paper towels or a clean cloth. Allow the area to air dry. You may need to repeat if the stain is deep.

How to Remove Eyeshadow From Carpet

Eye shadow fell and scattered on carpet

Eyeshadow has a tendency to crumble and flake. If you are not careful, it may fall onto your carpet and be ground into it. Here are some tips for cleaning the stain up if it does happen to you. First, try to vacuum up the loose eyeshadow. If it has not been ground into the carpet, it may come up pretty easily.

Hydrogen Peroxide

If the makeup has been smeared into the carpet, apply a few drops of hydrogen peroxide to the stain. Dap it with a soft microfiber cloth. Get up as much of the stain as you can. Afterward, dab the same area with a clean damp cloth. This helps pull up the peroxide from the carpet. You can reapply the peroxide if needed.

Note: it is recommended to test a small area of the carpet with peroxide first to make sure no discoloration occurs.

Eye Makeup Remover Cream

Another way to remove the stain is an eye makeup remover cream. Apply a small amount onto a clean cloth and blot the affected area. Just as it would remove the makeup from your skin, it will remove the makeup from the carpet, also. After blotting away the makeup, use a damp cloth to make sure all of the cream is off of the carpet.

Like eye shadow, blush can come in powder form or can also be a cream. The cream form of blush may be a little harder to remove from the carpet. Follow these steps below, to remove this stain from your carpet.

Shaving Cream

Vacuum up the remnants of the powder if that is what was dropped. After making sure any loose powder is gone, blot the carpet with a damp towel. Apply a dollop of white foam shaving cream to the area. Allow to sit for about thirty seconds and then work the foam into the carpet with another damp towel. After seeing that the stain is gone, use soap and water to clean up the rest of the foam from the carpet.

Carpet Stain Remover

Again, you may choose to use a spray stain remover if the blush is a cream. This will help remove the grease from the carpet that the makeup may contain. Do not scrub as you can make the stain set deeper. Spray the stain remover on the area and blot with a clean, dry towel. Then use a towel and water to make sure the last of it is removed from the carpet. Allow to air dry and repeat if necessary.
