Your kitchen is the heart of your home. It’s where your best meals are made, where family members congregate, and where you can expect to spend years of your life. As one of the most important rooms in your home, it makes a lot of sense to focus on making this room as visually appealing as it is functional.

Kitchen color scheme trends are always coming and going. It’s normal to want something timeless and elegant. The problem, of course, is trying to figure out which color palette works for you. Stuck in a tizzy over this aesthetic conundrum? Don’t worry. We did a little research to find out which color schemes will work well throughout the next decade.

Wooden and blue kitchen with dining table and chairs, 11 Awesome Kitchen Color Schemes

1. Yellow, White, And Light Wood

Bright kitchen with white furniture and a bright yellow fridge

A little retro but a lot of sunshine, this trio of colors offers a great way to make a small kitchen look bigger and also keep things looking clean as can be. This is a great choice for people who love the wide, open look of a modern kitchen but still want to add a dash of color to the mix. You don’t need a yellow fridge for this, but it definitely works as a statement item if you choose to rock it.

2. Navy Blue, Gold, And White

A favorite color theme among kitchens located by the sea, this ocean-friendly look is both elegant and modern. Navy is a darker blue than what most people would choose from a kitchen, making it an edgier option than most. This designer used this motif to give their home a royally luxurious look. Chandelier in the kitchen? Ooh, la la!

You don’t need to work too hard at getting this motif working. Even a blue tile backsplash with gold accents can make your kitchen pop.

3. Sage, Steel, And Light Stone

If you are in the market for something a little more traditional, check out this contemporary color combination. Sage green gives this kitchen a nice cottage feel that still makes it look large and inviting. Steel adds a modern flair to it balanced by the light-colored granite countertops throughout the kitchen.

What we really adore is the gorgeous bouquet that ties all the details together. It’s elegant and so incredibly easy to mimic.

4. Gray, Grayish Blue, White, And Light Woods

You should probably brace yourself since this color scheme has been quietly taking over interior design magazines throughout the world. The look of that grayish, chalky blue is serene and works impeccably well with almost every light neutral color. Knowing that, it’s not surprising that people are flocking to this beautiful modern setup.

Gray-blue offers up a royal look without it looking too ancient. It’s easy enough to accent this type of kitchen with a brushed steel vase. (Hint: this is also a great bathroom tile wall idea.)

5. Orange, Black, White, And Light Wood

Domestic kitchen interior design with orange cabinets

Orange kitchens are often derided as too retro, but this color palette still remains popular today. The thing is, you can’t go for the fully heavy-handed look that most 70s magazines worked with. In order to get the best possible results, use a little bit of orange on a heavy white and light wood theme. Then, to add that bold twist of pizazz, add black appliances and a bold statement rug.

This is a good choice for people who want to have a retro-modern look that still offers a sunny, cheerful vibe. To make it even more tropical, add some light green accents to the mix.

6. Black, White, And Red

This trio of colors never seems to go out of style, and there’s a good reason for that. It’s bold, edgy, and yet still modern enough to make it look artful in almost any setting. While many people would consider this to be a great color scheme for a room with a gray couch, this also happens to be a good color scheme for people who want a kitchen that pops in the right way.

The best part of this look is the fact that most appliances are black or white in color. This makes matching things super easy.

7. White On White

Open up any interior design magazine or cooking magazine, and you will find at least one kitchen that is done up in all white. White is an amazing kitchen color, all on its own. This color alone makes your kitchen seem a lot larger than it really is, makes it look clean, and helps reflect light beautifully.

This solo-color theme is great for homes that want to give their kitchen a traditional cottage vibe or for kitchens that want to have a more professional veneer. Besides, accessorizing is a breeze with white.

8. Light Blue, Yellow, And White

This trio of colors is a great pick for a plethora of different reasons. White is a color that implies cleanliness and helps make a room look bigger. Blue gives your kitchen a calm, serene, and slightly upbeat mood that makes it welcoming in its own right. To add warmth and appetite-enhancing vibes to your room, a canary yellow will work wonders here.

We suggest adding a splash of light blue in the form of cute appliances or cutlery to make it a true blue venue.

9. Beige, Brown, And White

Sometimes, you don’t want to have too much color in your room. If you are looking for a kitchen color scheme that is more traditional and functional, then you should check out this one. This color scheme works well with various woods, helps hide stains, and also still looks contemporary regardless of the year that you do your kitchen in.

What more can we say? This is a classic for a reason, and that reason is its versatility. It works with virtually any style.

10. Brick, Black, And Brown

Have you ever gone into a classic pizzeria with a real iron oven inside of it? If so, you probably saw this classic kitchen color theme as the decoration around the venue. This kitchen color scheme (or material scheme?) is a classic that makes people immediately think of the old days of food prep.

A little steampunk, a pinch of class, and just enough tradition to make everyone fall in love, this works well with more old school kitchen layouts. Don’t ask why, but it often feels like food tastes better when you’re eating it in a kitchen like this.

11. Red And White

Luxury modern white kitchen interior with open doors and drawers

Red and white is a classic kitchen color scheme, and how you choose to work it is totally up to you. Most people choose to go heavy on the red, but this can cause a room to look smaller. Some might even call it visually jarring, especially if the remodeled kitchen isn’t done up in modern styles.

This shouldn’t make you rule out this color combination. If you want to go a little lighter but still get the bold statement that red offers, take a look at what this designer did. By using it as the accent color, they were able to tone down the look while still breathing life into the design.

In Conclusion

Finding the right kitchen color combo and really set your kitchen apart from the rest while staying stylish through the years. Add some texture with a tile backsplash or wood countertop, dress it up with colorful appliances, or stick to simplistic tones for a neat and clean look.
