  3. Insert the new 1224 or 1224B cartridge. Attach the new cartridge inside the valve, and be sure to check the cartridge tab to see if it's properly in line with the notch of the valve. You can use your hand to tighten the cartridge nut and use the adjustable wrench to ensure it's in place.
  4. Reinstall the handle. Thread the set screw back in place.
